Lessons use a state-of-the-art Roland TD-27 professional electronic kit, with an incredible digital snare and hi-hats, giving us precise control over sound, volume and recording. That means we can focus closely on touch, timing and dynamics—and play the music at a level that feels right.

Ian Backhouse

A lifetime of playing, decades of teaching and a practical understanding of what helps a drummer grow.

Ian started playing at eight, was performing in bands by fourteen and earning his living on cruise ships by eighteen. His career has since moved through studio sessions, theatre, radio, television, clinics and live performance across the UK.

He studied with respected tutors Albert Cooper and Bob Armstrong, joined Vic Firth's international education team and taught as visiting faculty at Echo Factory Music Academy. Today, that experience goes into clear, encouraging lessons and dependable professional work.
